Our work

Solving Obstacles by Empowering Recovery (SOBER) Foundation started in 2009 as a way to promote and support successful recovery and stabilization of Ramsey County Treatment Court participants.

We provide small emergency assistance grants to select individuals in the Treatment Courts. Our grants have resulted in opportunities for participants to enjoy more positive and productive lives while promoting and encouraging responsibility, accountability, and personal growth.

Minnesota’s Treatment Courts have established specialized courts as a key strategy to increase public safety, improve life outcomes for defendants, and save tax-payer dollars. Using the power of the courts with appropriate treatment and monitoring services, treatment courts have been found to reduce recidivism and assist offenders in finding the help they need to achieve sobriety and get their lives back on track.

SOBER Foundation is here to support participants as they navigate this journey.

Our guiding principles

  • Everyone needs a little help when making a big change in their life

  • Recovery works, but it’s difficult to do alone

  • People seeking sobriety and mental health stability need support

  • The life-changing process of recovery has small and large financial needs that can become barriers to success

  • Everyone is entitled to justice, redemption, compassion, and opportunities that support self-sufficiency
